Cherry Blossom Festival 2012 Video

The opening ceremony of the Cherry Blossom Festival 2012 will be held on Sunday from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center. It will showcase Grammy-nominated singer Sara Bareilles together with other local and Japanese performers. You need to register online for a free ticket before being admitted to the event.

There are lots of activities on that day, however, no happiness can compare in looking to those beautiful cherry blossoms brightened by the morning sun on the National Mall. If you are a visitor in Washington, those trees deserve much of your attention.

Another special event that goes with this festival is the 100th anniversary of Japan’s gift of 3,000 cherry blossom trees to the United States. This will double the events that will be staged during the festival. Tourists will surely enjoy their options.

Because this event has a Japanese color, you can also try some Japanese activities during the day. You can try origami lessons, ballet performances and a show by the Nen Daiko taiko drummers. This is just a wonderful day for your family.

Can a cherry tree cure grudges?

We can remember many years ago that Japan one of our great enemy in the World War II and the antagonist of the Pearl Harbor attack. Looking to those cherry trees will somewhat remind us the cruelty that we felt but I believe these trees cures and can also show to us that there a brighter, colorful, and shining future ahead of us.

Japan is different now. They have the people, culture, and technology that we love, respect, and admire. And, the relationship we build for them are like cherry blossoms.

What is the significance of this festival?

A lot. But one thing is very important, good relationship matters, it even connect different people in different places.
