G.I. Joe: Retaliation movie postponed to 2013

Paramount Pictures has postponed the airing of its single summer action movie entitled, "G.I. Joe: Retaliation." The movie which is the third sequel of the G.I. Joe series is said to be due on June 29 but move until March of next year. This unforeseen alteration leaves the studio deprived of a big-budget source hitting theaters in 2012.

The change astounded even the film's director, Jon M. Chu, who initially this week still anticipated the movie to unravel next month.

In a conference Monday with The Times, the 32-year-old director articulated his enthusiasm about the imminent release date and a fresh trailer, and broadcasted like a filmmaker who felt he had now finished the roughest obstacles of post-production.

Nevertheless, Paramount's choice is also shocking to many in the movie industry for numerous reasons:

First, it was announced just five weeks before the film was fixed to smash theaters. Paramount has already spent millions on advertising and promotion hyping the June 29 opening, comprising a Super Bowl commercial, clips, prints, an exhibition to theater owners at Cinema-Con in April and a website that now presents an inappropriate opening date.

Secondly, it leaves Paramount with an extremely nimble release schedule in 2012. Subsequent to the verdict to postpone December's zombie adventure movie "World War Z" to next summer, "G.I. Joe: Retaliation" was Paramount's lone 2012 event movie with a price of more than $100 million. The other five chief studios all have plentiful such pictures.

Lastly, Paramount's 2013 timetable is now reasonably crowded with big movies. Along with two other movies overdue from 2012, the above-mentioned "World War Z" and "Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters," the studio is also freeing a new "Star Trek” and a restart of the "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" animated franchise.

Though the news that this exciting movie “G.I. Joe: Retaliation” is really sad to those who really waited for it, and those who are fan with these kinds of films and list of celebrities, we are still expecting that this movie will surely surprise us whenever it will be due.
