The most-awaited Billboard Music Awards night is here again to give us a one-of-a-kind super presentation of your favorite music artists and their well-earned awards.
On previous year, the coming back of the Billboard Music Awards made a gigantic splash, with performers, production and water-cooler flashes on a par with the major awards shows on TV. The assessments were no slump either, with the three-hour broadcast on ABC averaging 7.9 million total viewers from 8-11 p.m., up 28 percent from the last broadcast of the show in 2006. The show conquered the ratings across the board in the significant demographics, drawing a 2.9 rating among adults 18-49, which deciphers to more than 3.8 million viewers in that age group.
In short, this awarding night is a hard-hitting event to trail. But on Friday morning at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, with technicians dashing around, buzz saws shrieking and a stunning lighting display being tried, Co-Executive Producer Richard Beckman was assured and obviously in his element. After all, the spectacle - airing live Sunday night at 8 p.m. on ABC - has a similarly famous list of talent that includes Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, Usher, Carrie Underwood, Chris Brown, Kelly Clarkson, LMFAO, Cee Lo Green, Linkin Park, the Wanted, Nelly Furtado and more, including a show-closing performance of Billboard's Icon Award to Stevie Wonder, who will then sing with Alicia Keys. There will also be compliments to recording artists who left us this year: Whitney Houston, the Beastie Boys' Adam "MCA" Yauch, and, just yesterday, Donna Summer.
What are the things you are expecting for the 2012 Billboard Music Awards? Who do you think will win in their respective category? Post a comment for a discussion now.
